Chicken momos recipe
Certainly! Here's a basic recipe for chicken momos:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ground chicken
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Round dumpling wrappers (readily available in stores)
Instructions:
1. In a pan, heat the vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for a minute.
2. Add the chopped onions and green chilies, and cook until the onions turn translucent.
3. Stir in the ground chicken and cook until it's no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula.
4. Add the chopped cabbage and cook for a few minutes until it softens.
5. Season with soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
6. To assemble the momos, take a dumpling wrapper, place a spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center.
7. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half, pressing the edges to seal. You can create pleats along the edges for a traditional look.
8. Repeat this process for the remaining wrappers.
9. Steam the momos in a steamer for about 10-12 minutes until they become translucent and the wrappers are cooked.
10. Serve hot with a dipping sauce made of soy sauce, vinegar, and a pinch of sugar, or your preferred sauce.
Enjoy your homemade chicken momos!
